10) "Shopgirl" Steve Martin and Claire Danes had such great chemistry in this movie, in which Danes plays a sales clerk who has the hots for Martin, a big-time executive who engages in an almost-relationship with the demure Danes. Though the film was at times predictable, its story line was a good one.

9) "A Lot Like Love" The beautiful, saucer-eyed Amanda Peet and Ashton Kutcher heat things up in this romance-comedy, in which Peet plays a wild, living-on-the-edge kind of girl who engages in a one-day romantic fling with Kutcher. Over the course of almost a decade, the two always run into each other (think "When Harry Met Sally"). Through breakups, bad jobs, and bad partners, they remain together, leading ultimately to their marriage.

8) "Flightplan" I was never a big fan of action movies, but in this film, which stars Jodie Foster, I was literally kept hanging on to the edge of my seat. Foster plays a mother who "loses" her daughter on a flight from Berlin to New York. Foster's actions and emotionally unstable state are so realistic that you feel as though you're running through the plane with her, desperately searching for the little girl. The ending was unexpected, and the plot is twisted, definitely making this film one that grabs-and holds-your attention.

7) "In Good Company" Starring Dennis Quaid, Scarlett Johansson, and Topher Grace, this film was both touching and funny. Topher Grace plays a young, dapper man who is the new boss of an individual twice his age. When the boss falls in love with his employee's daughter, trouble arises and so many lifelong lessons are learned in the process. Much more than just a typical love story, "In Good Company" illustrates that having lots of money and power doesn't always mean that you'll be happy, a message that needs to be reinforced in our money-hungry society.

6) "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" I was thrilled when this came out on DVD a couple of weeks ago! Steve Carell plays a 40-year-old guy who needs a lot of help in the area of love - and especially sex. With the help of his friends, who introduce Carell to the world of manhood, Carell finds that finding a girl to date isn't so hard- and that sex isn't something to be afraid of. I put this film on my Christmas wish list because it's one of the funniest movies I saw this year.

5) "Wedding Crashers" In one word - hysterical. Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn, as the title suggests, play a pair of wedding crashers whose job it is to crash as many weddings as possible and "get lucky" with as many girls as they can in the process. Together, their antics and smooth-talking strategies win them two beautiful women-but they find out that getting lucky comes with a price tag. This comedy will make you roll your head back in laughter.

4) "The Interpreter" As an interpreter who is privy to hearing secret messages and murder plots, Nicole Kidman finds herself in trouble. Sean Penn plays a Secret Service agent who comes to her rescue-but not without first encountering a plethora of obstacles. "The Interpreter" is captivating - the plot is anything but static, and Kidman's and Penn's performances are truly convincing.

3) "Cinderella Man" I must say, I was extremely disappointed with the fact that this movie did not do well at the box office this past summer. Ron Howard did a superb job at directing a true story of a boxer who went from rags to riches during the Great Depression through perseverance and hard work. Russell Crowe stars as boxer James Braddock, and Renee Zellweger plays his endearing, devoted wife. A must-see hit that will make your eyes shine with tears.

2) "Walk the Line" Trust me, you don't have to be a Johnny Cash fan to love or understand this movie. The dark, mysterious Joaquin Phoenix plays Johnny Cash, and Reese Witherspoon plays his loyal companion and wife in this box-office smash. Both actors do their own singing, which is really incredible, given the fact that they both sound so true to the original performers' voices. Reese Witherspoon is especially amazing to watch -before this movie, I'd only associated her with comedic roles. After seeing "Walk the Line," however, she's gained much more credibility with me.
