GOLDENDALE - A teenager died early Friday when he lost control of his all-terrain vehicle on a logging road in the Mount Adams area, the Washington State Patrol reported.
A spokesman described the area as the "backside" of Mount Adams. Sgt. Dave Robinson said Schwab was camping in the area with relatives, including his father and brother.
YAKIMA - An electrical problem caused a fire that badly damaged a house in the 500 block of South Third Street early Friday, the fire department said.
The fire was reported at 12:59 a.m. after the residents were awakened by the sound of flames and discovered a bed on the second floor was on fire, according to a news release.
The house was badly damaged in the blaze from the effects of flames, smoke and water. Damage was estimated at $40,000 to the house and $7,000 to personal property.
Armstrong landed a Playboy centerfold in September 1986, when she was 18 years old. Three years later she learned she had contracted HIV from a man she had met as a teenager.
After keeping her illness a secret for five years, she went public in 1994 and has since been an activist for physical fitness and sex education.
She plans to talk about HIV/AIDS prevention Tuesday. Now 38, Armstrong is still a Playboy playmate and works on the Playboy Foundation-sponsored College Campus Safer Sex campaign.
